I made this dress today, it is an old favourite of mine, I have made it a few times in the past. I prefer not to use facings on the armholes and neck edge as I find them too bulky, so I used bias tape instead. It only has a couple of darts in the front and a centre back zip.
Although I favour dressmaking this book has some fabulous ideas.
This dress is from another pattern I have had for many years, it is fully lined, with front and back darts, I decided to mix it up a bit with the two colours. Again I decided to put a concealed zip in place of the centre one suggested on the pattern.
I will be taking a break from my shift dress for a short time to concentrate on some serious cutting out. I have got various new projects in mind including a black lined skirt for work (made from material left over from my dress), a nice linen summer dress. Then perhaps moving on to a tailored suit jacket, plenty to consider and think about…..
